Skip and Loafer manga, also known in Japanese as Skip To Loafer, is a comic series created by Misaki Takamatsu. It’s been running in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine since August 25, 2018. The manga has been compiled into individual tankōbon volumes, with the first one released on January 23, 2019. As of March 22, 2024, ten volumes have hit the shelves. In North America, Seven Seas Entertainment picked up the English license for Skip To Loafer in February 2021.

The first English volume was published on August 10, 2021. By January 2023, the manga had reached over 1 million copies in circulation. Skip To Loafer earned a spot on Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list of best manga for male readers, ranking seventh in 2020 and eighth in 2024. It also made it to the 46th place on the “Book of the Year” list by Da Vinci magazine in 2021 and ninth in 2023.

The Skip and Loafer manga series was nominated for various awards, including the 13th Manga Taishō and the 44th Kodansha Manga Award. It even won the 47th edition of the Kodansha Manga Award in the general category in 2023. Additionally, it was recognized as one of the Jury Recommended Works at the 23rd Japan Media Arts Festival in 2020 and for the French 17th ACBD’s Prix Asie de la Critique in 2023. Rebecca Silverman from Anime News Network praised the manga, giving the first two volumes an A−. She commended its strong storytelling, well-developed characters, and balanced mix of humor and seriousness.
